LESSON 4: Get Fingerprinted

If you are applying for a license to carry in Texas, you will need to get your fingerprints taken. This can be done at any law enforcement agency in the state of Texas. You should make sure to bring along your driver’s license or other valid photo ID.

The fingerprints will be used to run a background check to determine if you are eligible to receive a license. There may be a fee associated with getting your fingerprints are taken and you should inquire with the law enforcement agency beforehand.

Once the fingerprints have been taken, you will need to include them with the application that you submit to the Texas Department of Public Safety. You will also need to sign and notarize the application form before it can be processed.
