Requirements by the Department of Public Safety for Getting a License to Carry in San Antonio
- You must never have any records or charges against you, where you were found guilty or got convicted by any federal or state law.
- You must not be a minor or at least be a young adult who is up to 21 years. In other cases, you must be up to 18 years of age as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, must have been discharged on a clean slate, a part of the National Guards or under Reserves.

- A license applicant must satisfactorily prove that they can work with a handgun by physically demonstrating handgun skills and requirements, including maintenance, handling, and safety precautions.
- An applicant must have been responsible for all required taxes required of citizens of San Antonio.
- An applicant must not be a delinquent or a lawless citizen.
- An applicant must be free of legal controls and limitations like a court restraining order from their spouses or ex-spouses.

Test of Your Handgun Skills in San Antonio
It is required of every potential license holder to successfully go through a physical test called “the shooting test” and have an excellent performance at the end of the day. The appeal must still be addressed to the Department of Public Safety, who has the responsibility of making the necessary arrangements for the hearing in a court closest to your location in San Antonio.
